lap band surgery amongst other things....

Tuesday 02 December, 2008 - 21:50 by SunFlowerMum in Default

On Friday 28th of nov I had my lap band surgery. Pre surgery I lost 7 kilos, and since then I have lost another 2 kilos.  I have been surprised at  how little pain I have had and how little discomfit the anaesthetic caused as well.  Diet wise I am also doing well.  No vomiting or struggling to hold down food either.  I would recommend this procedure to anyone. I now weigh 139 kilos.  I want to get down to 85 kilos, so 54 kilos to go!

A couple of weeks ago we went to my son's Graduation dinner.  It was a lovely ocasion, but terrible food.  I hope they don't get the same caterers again.  I danced with DS17 who looked lovely in his black suit and striped shirt.

THe week before that was the speech night which saw DS17 and DD16 both receive Academic Excellence awards, my daughter's first ever! We were ever so proud.

That is all for now. Bye.

Life goes on...

Life has been just going on.  We have had a few celebrations. DS17 got his P-plates and can now officially drive on the roads by himself. DD16 got her learners so her dad is taking her for driving lessons each afternoon.  I think my husband is great to teach them, I am way too nervous to do it.

I have finished the essay on the novel "Frankenstein" I have beeb doing for the past couple of weeks, and no I am not happy with it, but if I have to see the blasted thing one more time I swear I will scream. So I have submitted it 2 weeks early.

I am feeling quite flat.  I am just fragile I think and am saving all my energy for existing and everything else is just falling by the wayside.  I am not that bad that I am sleeping all day, but close to it.  I have done some housework, but am struggling.  No particular reason, just the medication and a caffeine habit I should break.

It is now about 5 weeks until my lapband surgery and  2 weeks before I have to start my diet in preparation for it. I am not looking forward to either really, but some part of me acknowledges that it will be the start of something good.  THough I wish people would stop saying how hard it is going to be, as if I need reminding!

My eldest boy is finishing high-school in around a months time, and there is lots of talk and planning going on about his validictory night. What to wear, how he will get there etc.  I am getting my hair done on the night and have organised a brand new outfit, a la ebay, to wear to it.  I am very proud of my boy,  he will also have completed his Certificate III in Horticulture by then as well and is starting full time employment after a couple of weeks holiday in December.

That is all my news for now.

Today was rather hot up here in the north, though not as hot as the coast.  We have been lucky that our landlord has bought three split systems for the bedrooms here in the house.  My DH is going to install them this weekend.  What a luxury!!! This house has a tin roof and no insulation so the a./c's will help alot.  We have news from him too that the house will be painted at Christmas so that is some more good news.

I have spent today being "Mum's' taxi service. Out at 8 am, then 11, then 1, then 3, and 4!!! THe sooner they get their licences the better it will be for all concerned. It kept me busy though.

I am in the process of gathering info on how "Frankenstein" relates to mother/parenthood. I have got in touch with the university library to see what they have.

thanks for checking in and having a read. Got to get back to making dinner.

last day of the holidays

Well here we are at the last day of the school holiday. I have one child still at home and he is annoying intensely!! All I want is for him to pick up all the rubbish off the lounge room floor so that I can vacume. He is doing now but it has taken some threats and pleading to get him going.

I am feeling very flat. My uni studies are worrying me, and yes I know, "p's get degrees" but I am worried that I won't even get that. It is as if the info I need is just beyond my grasp and I am hanging by my finger nails! Not good. I am lacking energy as it is and am getting quite panicky about it. I went to the councellor today and that was good.  He helped me put it in much better perspective and I am now alot calmer than I was.

I have a 500 word essay due on Friday which I have written and now have to fine tune.  Lucky I now have a mentor who is able to help me get through this bugger of a subject. I am not enjoying feeling out of my depth and the 3-4 weeks that I have left to do it won't come quick enough.

My daughter got her learners licence the other day.  She failed by a question or two the first time, but second chance got  %100.  This was more than her brother so she was twice as pleased! So now I have two children on the road, which is a little troubling.

That is all my news today, thanks for dropping in and having a read.

second week of holidays

Tuesday 30 September, 2008 - 10:41 by SunFlowerMum in Default

It is now the second week of the school holidays, and we are all busy here. This evening we have my  DH's sister and her family visiting from down south for about the first time ever I think. It will be good to see them, but I am not looking forward to the cleaning up of the house that needs to happen before then.

Tonight we are having Curried Chicken for dinner. I have just put the chicken thigh in the crock pot so that they are done nice and slowly. That makes them all the more tender. I shall put in some veges and the curry later on this afternoon. Served with rice, everyone even the children, like it.

On Sunday we went to the coast for the couple of hours.  We took the Palmerstone Range road and had lunch at the King Reef Cafe at Kurramine Beach.  It was the most sublime of days.  It was fine, but not hot, and there was a lovely breeze blowing. My DH and I sat under a tree in our beach chairs, whilst the boys played footy in the water and DD16 tried to tan her legs.  She was using tropical blend tanning lotion.

Remember that stuff, the smell of the coconut oil took me right back to my teens.  These days though it has sun block in it, admittedly only 15+, but at least that is something. DH fell asleep and I just watched the kids and a mob of pelicans bobbing around the fishing boats as they came ashore. Anyway it was a lovely day and made going back to ordinary routine all that more difficult.

I had better go now and make a start on the housework.
